rFactor 2

Post by slobb11 » Sun Jan 26, 2014 11:39 pm

So....
Is it any good yet?
I got a bit bored of rFactor, because all the aspects that I really wanted (changing weather, changing track, decent tyre wear/fuel load management, parc ferme, etc) were broken. Every race seemed to be about driving as hard and fast as possible, with little to no strategy involved. rFactor 2 supposedly addresses all of those issues, but it got seriously slagged during beta.
However, all the posts I found in the forums relating to rFactor 2 are from 2 years ago, so I'm hoping it's been fixed up some since then, and might be worth a spin now.

So what's the verdict? Should I lock the daughter in the closet for a couple of hours so I can try it out?

Hi Slobb

In a nutshell, No. IMO
The realroad and weather are pretty good, but graphically poor, in the two years its been out as a beta nothing really has improved.
It runs ok on a single screen, triples not so good, seems no optimization has been done.
Multiplayer is .. well a joke...collision detection is rubbish, netcode seems to be worse.
Graphics are cartoon like at best.
Still has potential, but how long will we have to wait for a already what is essentially a 9 year old game to work correctly.
updates have been few and far between, sure they will put some badly modelled cars up and a few tracks(the things modders do better) instead of making the sim run properly.

go check out assetto corsa, still in early access but progressing well.

Thanks guys.
Sounds like it might be worth a quick play for single player (assuming the AI is as good as they make it out to be), but worthless for multiplayer.

Hope you're all still getting some good racing action, probably with slightly less carnage without me in the mix. Then again....you've still got Bull ;p

It's not worth it, even for SP.
I removed it, and wish I could get a refund.

Assetto Corsa is a better option.

I haven't raced here for probably almost 2 years now Mofo!

Was going to race couple of seasons ago but got shafted by a teammate, lol. Might come back one day though if I found someone decent to race with.....
