Re: The new stockcar 147a
Bonnet, body, and dash are all fully mounted now, and treadplates have been mounted on the outriggers.
Getting the rear brake set up tonight hopefully, once that's in I will begin the laborious task of running brake lines and hoses.

Re: The new stockcar 147a
The car will definately be ready for this coming season, queens bday is looking doubtful due to the lack of funds and time left. It all depends how the body (recurring back injury) and wallet is come october as to if im racing it or not though!
No I wont be attending, I dont think there is an award for communal pit b!tch (the only award i'd be eligible for this season)

Oh forgot to mention that the L/H top outrigger (infront of the drop arm) has been raised 80mm so that I can lift the steering arm mounting point on the drop arm. At present it is 1/4 turn from centre to lock which is way too responsive, I want to achieve at 1/2 turn from centre to lock.

Re: The new stockcar 147a
Will update pictures in the near future.
Have been busy tinkering, made a switch panel, have removed the stub axles and cut the steering arm mounts off and making new ones to suit, and have put mudguards behind the front wheels (in the hope that one day the car will make it to the track!!!)
Need to get my A into G and get the seat organised, as that is starting to hold me up now.

Re: The new stockcar 147a
A bit of an update for those interested, including overdue pics from previous updates and what I got done today.
I have made and fitted the driveshaft, brake booster / master cylinder and clutch master cylinder, made and mounted the battery box, and also made the firewall.
Oh, also binned the trisco water temp gauge, and replaced it with an autometer pro comp one to match the rest of the gauges.
Tomorrow I will begin running the brake lines, and once I collect the calipers and hoses from bnt, will get them fitted and bleed the system.
I will be making the clutch line and bleeding that up tomorrow once I have mounted the pedal.
Once the above is complete, its time to wire it up and plumb it, turn on the key and hope like hell it goes

Re: The new stockcar 147a
Well after much swearing, caliper swapping, and rebuilding calipers, the car now has brakes. Next on the list is running the p/s lines, and fit the ps oil cooler.
Getting the seat at the end of this week too hopefully.

Re: The new stockcar 147a
Alrighty, had quite a bit of progress over the last few weeks:
Got the remaining power steering line (pressure side) made up
Got the seat (thanks to dad)
Seat mounted
New steering rod mount on stub axle made and mounted (I have now achieved the steering response I wanted - 1/2 turn from centre to lock)
3mm plate welded in under the seat
Pedals set up (will need adjusting once the car is going)
Tyres grooved out
Fuel line run
and more I will have forgotten that wasnt on the list no doubt.
To do:
Mount fuel pump
Make last mount for top of seat once padded and belts in (may need to bend seat top back or forward to suit - you never want a gap between your seat and head!)
Make belt mounts
get seat covered
Buy belts & transponder
Fill drivetrain with fluids
Wire it up
paint and signwrite body
Yep, its getting close now!

Re: The new stockcar 147a
haha.
That would be interesting, is Andy getting another car or calling it quits? Would be a shame to lose him from the auckland ranks.
A small update, wiring is under way at the moment, just taking my time as I dont want to power it up for the first time and see smoke rising!!!!
