Re: Updating the Computer.
Need to know what your current PC requirements are.
Your computer (generally speaking) is only as fast as its slowest component, so no point in getting a new gfx card if your current one is pretty good and say your CPU or RAM sucks ass

I believe the word Bull was looking for was Specifications . Basically what your computer has.Bull wrote:Need to know what your current PC requirements are.
You can find that out typing "dxdiag" in run. That will give you processor speed, RAM, and if you toggle over a few of the tabs to display your graphics card .

Re: Updating the Computer.
Your looking at spending roughly what I had to on my last upgrade/s:
A new graphics card
New Processor
More then likely will need a new Power Supply to power them
And more RAM.
To be honest, probably cheaper to go down to your local PC Store and tell them what you want and how much you can afford, will work out a lot cheaper then a new PC and will come with warranty etc

Re: Updating the Computer.
I just brought me a new PC it has a:
(mainly rFaccy wise)
2.2 dual core processor
2gb ram
9500gt gfx card
direct x 11
Now i was on the server this morning havn a skid and i was sitting on 230fps on max detail (minus dust).
How ever i didn't have a full field of cars but still.. something like my pc will do ya well
Ram is cheap these days if you know the right people and ya can get a good graphics card quite cheap too so good luck mate
p.s it aint too hard on the back pocket either

You can run rFactor on DX9 with a upgraded graphics card (get a 256mb one at least) and 1GB of RAM using your current processor. I have the same one as you, but am looking to upgrade it but the graphics card is what is holding you back the most.

IMHO for gaming PC build / buy advice, the best place to check is the GP Forums PC help forum: http://www.gpforums.co.nz/forum/PC-Build-Help, particularly the "Default GP $500 - $2000+ PC Build Suggestions" and "The Official GP Guide On Building a PC" threads.
A quick improvement for your machine would be to throw in a better video card. Not sure if you have AGP or PCI-E slot. Assuming it is PCI-E you can find a $50 card on TardeMe, something like a 7600GT or possibly 8600GT.
For system info, I find freeware utility CPU-Z is very useful.

Re: Updating the Computer.
Agree Jetboy, Speccy is a great tool to download and utilise, as I'm giving the main PC an overall during the off season mid year.
Gonna still race off the my other PC though, can't keep this old bugger away from racing and having fun.
Good luck Nutter bro with your upgrades
