Apart from Death Magnetic Metallica's last good album was Justice.

i agree ... the pic pretty much sums it up!

Heavier isn't always better, it's just whatever you prefer I suppose. I love the really heavy stuff but for me great metal is made up of amazingly creative guitar riffs & solos, this is something that Metallica are completely genius with and can be beaten by NOONE in the metal scene IMO. Alot of the heavier bands today stick with a few good riffs per song, overdoing the double kick with the drums and trying to get as low a sound as possible. This all sounds good and really gets the head banging but in the end, the creativeness just isn't there and it's plain boring to play on the guitar.

Dead right bro blendy, the guitars are all goods, if you enjoy pentatonic scale soloing....

Some of the old stuff is up there imo but yeah, guess i just grew out of it when they ruined their rep i guess lol

i tend to agree with kj and 1073 .... even though i do like alot of metalica's songs even some of the later ones ... they are just fewer are farther between these days ..
i for one think that metallica will be very close to being upstaged at there own concert by the intro band as i call em ... but yeh metallica these days to me is like listening to britnay spears though very cheap and old speakers cranked very very loud .. ( just alot of crackling and distortion and yelling ! ) pity really if they had stayed with their roots like megadeth did an still has then maybe it would have been a different story

Oh don't even go there with Megadeth, they don't even deserve to be mentioned in this thread at all. Completely terrible. :Puke:

thus spoken from a true metallica lover pretty much what i expected ....
ill give someone 50 kanga to go to the metallica in a megadeth shirt and scream out for them all nite and see who actually lives .....

the point i was making is atleast one of them stuck to their guns and stayed true to themselves rather than going with the group so to speak .. imho metallica are sheep just like most other metal mainstream bands these days .. exept they have made a rep for themselves ( from mostly the older music ) and the fans stay true to them .i personally think if it wasnt for the rep .. they would have faded out just like the majority of others have

Sheep? Metallica don't follow on from what other's do, it's what makes them unique and that's the reason they still have a very strong following to this day. Who else blended Metal with Country at the time of Load/Reload? Who else decided to take their band back to the garage band sound like they did in St Anger? They have in no way followed on like sheep, some of what they have done has worked and other things haven't but they certainly aren't 'followers'. Their latest album they have gone back to they way they used to play music with Master of Puppets and And Justice for All, pure brilliance.

People that are into Metal are pretty passionate about their music and bands to all you onlookers in case you hadn't already noticed. ;p

I hope Lamb of God are better then the likes of Tainted and 8 Foot, couldn't last more then a song of either of them when they opened for a couple of previous bands that had been here.
