Updates.

A lot of news websites have stories/Pictures and up to date news.

They also have got a number of aftershocks..
http://www.geonet.org.nz/

City is still shaking and is full of a lot of old buildings so the damage would be crazy.

There are a few Ksr members that live in Chch. Hopefully everyones okay.

.VIDEOS ON HERE TO
http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/magnitu ... 9865/video

The magnitude, depth and epicentral location have been revised upon receipt of further information. In particular, the magnitude is now 7.1, revised down from 7.4, and the location is slightly further to the west. Of most impact is the shallow depth of 10 km, which accounts for the widespread damage being reported in the area.

Still no power at my place in saint albans. Lots of damage around my area, talk of evacuating due to damage at the gas station a few hundred metres away so have high tailed it to meredith's parents for the night as they still have power and water out in the country by oxford speedway.

Our house has a few cracked bricks and stuff for
miles, will take pics when I'm back home and post them up.

Hope all my chch lads are safe and well!

We just got power on. Had a drive round town cause there was fk all else to do when we had no power/water etc, not too much damage, a few old buildings have scattered some bricks on the roads and a couple of roads have been smashed up, nothing to major. A lot of idiots on the road though who simply don't know the road rules, most of them older folk too!

I sleep on the third story of my house, got woken up by the noise before it hit, then shaken around like a rag doll (Crazy stuff), ran down stairs, sliped, slide down the rest, couldn't find my keys to get outside, stood at my door and watched the neighbours house falling down. Probably best I didn't make it outside

A bit of damage at my end - being so close to the epicentre......

once found out that my family was ok i went and done the rounds of all the boys places who are deployed and have wife and kids at home. had to move big shelves etc out the way so some people could get to there kids etc.....this took about an hour all up then went home to have a look

big bookshelf -> door -> Big tv cabnit -> LCD tv bang bang pop that went holes everywhere
all the draws we have all toppled over all the draws came out and all over the place.....
so major damage to the house which 1st went un noticed. we were planning on moving out this morning put that on hold then told to get out
still to this point no running water or power.
am staying with friends closer to town so have the luxury now of water power and ability to cook a hot meal.....

tonight the Munros are all in one bed...mum dad zarna 3 and maddison 7months.

came as a shock and i was so pumped i got half way down the street to do the rounds when i realised i was only in boxers..

also to all you people who laugh at the disaster ads - FROM ME TAKE IT SERIOUSLY GET WATER AND SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED IT ONE DAY

I agree Munis, this is a good wakeup for people to really pay attention and be prepared. It showed yesterday with an amazing amount of people running around town like headless chickens how unprepared a lot of people are. Luckily when I have to I can eat almost anything that looks remotely edible in front of me so lived off various canned foods yesterday till we got our power back.

Just got in after my 3rd night in a row helping out.....

I have had about 15 hrs sleep since saturday.

spent the last 3 nights helping out in my local community where i grew up digging silt out of the road, drains etc just hlping out where i can

took my computer down to the hall along with my ps2 with a bunch of games for the kids to keep occupied.

then i spend the day at home looking after my 2 kids as there child care center has had the pipes burst and a lot of mess around.

if you are in the area and want to help - herad to the most effected areas, bring a shovel and a smile....the more help the better.

We got hit by another quake this morning, a 5.1, but this one was quite shallow and moved a lot more then the previous 5.4's. I was quite close to the epicentre of this one as well and was driving at the time, thought Id just hit a gravel patch at 100km/h lol. Lost power for around 1/2 hour as well, just got sent home from work for the day.

Over a thousand aftershocks to date, and they're now centered in the city or just on the outskirts.
Last night had three in quick succession, all less than 10km deep.
One centered in Gloucester Street 200m west of Latimer Square, another in Wianoni,
and the other on the corner of Brougham and Ensors Rd.

People are freaked all over again, 4.0 earthquakes that hit close to you
seem to be bigger than 5.5 earthquakes 20km away.

I feel sorry for the people in the rolleston area, that area has been hit very hard with aftershocks.

Rolleston was hit hard after the quake, 100s of aftershocks centered in Rolleston and surrounding areas, and some over mag 5.
Remember the closer you are to the quake the harder its felt.
On Saturday the quakes were in the city and even though they were only 4.0 they felt the strongest since the big one.
So I would hate to have mag fives centered in the city.

Seems very relitive to how close you are to the aftershocks to how freeked you get. lol

Seems the aftershocks have gone back out to Darfield today.
