You can use the Cable shifters like found in a lot of FWD cars. Takes a bit to set up though.

We run Dad's on the side. Have you got the top plate that bolts onto the side of the gearbox with the two pinion's sticking through with tags? Or is it the plate itself you need?

If it's just the plate, your going to need one and I very much doubt anything other than an HQ would fit (I may be proven wrong). But if you have the plate and the tags, then you need the on the side gear lever setup which bolts onto the plate at the back (top) of gearbox. _b

Found out for ya! We used a carolla shifter. We changed the cables to rods tho...but talking to pooh he says they now rig the cables up to work???

Hope that helps!

That's up the right way? If you can get a prefect shifter that would be ideal. It would just bolt straight on (providing the tags are in the right positions). Otherwise going the way of the cable shifters most Toyota's have similar cable shifters but they just vary in length depending on the make of the car.

Na bro i had mine like that, just mounted the shifter above it on a plate welded to the hip plate. Then had straight rods to the Side of the box (which is the top harding lol)

I am pretty sure there was a thread on macgors in the tech section about alternative shifters;i had a quick search for it but couldn't find it. on page 11
in new stockcar 29s thread there is some info on a sparco shifter.

Just wait until you go off the end into the concrete wall with one and a half tonne of steel pushing you at 100clicks and see how much of a headache you get then ;p . Then the headache of getting the car fixed and ready for the next race :) .

Yeah man the joys of speedway. Spend hundreds of hours preparing a car and getting it ready just to spend a few minutes on the track a night ;) .

I don't see any rule that says you have to run with a gearstick, or a gearbox for that matter. It just says the gearbox must be OEM _b .
