This is just terrible news.
Every TV station in Oz has coverage and it doesn't look good.
Hope everybody is safe and our thoughts are with you.

TV3 have a live stream for those at work that are wanting to tune in:

As does TVNZ:

Some of it is pretty graphic.

Just got a reply from Bull, all he said was "The citys fucked bro".
I get two things from this.
1. Pluck's mint
2. The guy that played down the first quack said that the city is fucked.

Re: ChristChurch Earth Quake v2
Cheers for the well wishes guys, was definitely a shock to the system that one, our house is a mess, food and broken glass all through the kitchen, the TV I saved in the first quake is on the ground so heres hoping its ok, my pc monitor etc had a wee fly across the lounge too but again unsure of the damage.
Have left the city out to the in laws farm where there is water and power.
Just glad the wife was at home on holiday and not at work in town or who knows! My heart goes out to all those who have losed or trapped loved ones in this. We were so lucky to only get away with a bit of broken stuff in the house and some liquifacation.
I have some photos so will upload tonight if I get the time.

Re: ChristChurch Earth Quake v2
Pretty decent shake up. I was working under a car at the time it struck and when the car was shaking above the hoist without actually touching it I decided to bail haha. A few windows shattered and stuff which never happened with the last one, this was def a lot more violent.
Im yet to head home in Woolston, all that side of town was blocked off from work so just hiding out at the mothers place in Belfast in the time being. Surprised to have internet since we don't have any phone lines.
We also acquired a small dog by the name of Zero, so if anyones missing a small dog we have it
65 Confirmed deaths so far Central Christchurch is absolutely FUCKED, no other way to describe it. Communication is still very slow coming, I hadn't heard from any family until around 4pm, 3 hours after it struck.

Re: ChristChurch Earth Quake v2
Rat I'm pretty sure is in hanmer, they were pretty much unscathed from the quake from what I have heard.
Went in today and cleaned up all the glass etc at our place and the streets are pretty empty unless you are near a gas station that is open or on the main roads out of town. The town is a mess but like I've told others, we will band together and rebuild this city. Im not even a cantabrian I just live here but the community spirit is huge and they wont let this get them down (much)!

Re: ChristChurch Earth Quake v2
Finally managed to get over to my house today, dunno where you were looking Ugmo but there was traffic absolutely EVERYWHERE! I had to go pretty much 45 mins out of town, around CHCH for a 1.5 hour journey that would normally take about 15-20 mins.
Quite a bit of damage at home, cracked walls, the roof supports have all moved and cracked so roof just hanging on there, tiles moved etc. No power or water out there yet.
Both my Electric Guitars were damaged, computer thrown across the room as well as the TV, monitor etc. Won't know their condition until the power gets back on so I can boot them up etc.
Lost a couple of trophies from racing as well which was a bit of a bummer. Amazingly only lost one bottle of beer out of the fridge, most other glass stuff just fell. Lost a lot of plates and stuff though.
Spent most of the day cleaning up the house and giving the neighbours a hand with the street etc, that sandy silt stuff everywhere. Then grabbed my essentials, some clothes, phone charger, and my Metallica Collection and headed back out to the parents place for the night. Hopefully get power back tomorrow

That's a shame about the trophies man. Keep them and send them in to be repaired man. You will be amazed at what they can fix these days. Everything else man although it seems a lot to you can be replaced. Hang in there brother.Bull wrote: Then grabbed my essentials my Metallica Collection
Keep trying to get through to Hawkins Mentl. But with things being the way they are chances could be he isn't aloud back to his home or cant get back there for whatever reason where his cellphone charger is (or doesn't have power).

From what the feeling is here in Gisborne from people with family in ChCh is most of them are getting the hell out of there. They don't want to live there anymore they just want to leave. Some are aleady on there way back up to Gisborne to stay with family indefinitely.
