As the title says, I'm looking to upgrade my GFX card but unsure so, any advice appreciated.
Other components are - core 2 duo e7500, asus P5N-E sli M/Board, 2gig ram, 22in monitor so only a max res of 1680x1050
Cheers in advance

Re: nvidia gts250 or ati 4850?
Pretty much the same rig as me and I'm running a GTS250. It works well, but it does seem to have that same problem that all Nvidia cards have with rFactor.....the random gfx lock-up for 25 seconds at a time.
It would happen about once a week (generally in practice but occasionally during a race), until I dropped rF down to DX8 and it hasn't happened since.
So...
Your choice is between a card that will make transformer cars with some mods, or a card that will force you to run DX8. (The only noticable effect of DX8 is that the track flickers a bit, which I haven't found to be annoying really)

Re: nvidia gts250 or ati 4850?
Ive had both nVidia and ATI cards, and am running a 4670 atm, but Id say from experience the nVidia cards are more stable, and are more compatible with a larger range of mods/games

I run a 4850 and havent really had a problem, the only problem I have had with it is that it does get quite hot (especially when there is dust build up). The nvidia card I had got a thrashing and it was good till it died .

Re: nvidia gts250 or ati 4850?
Cheers guys, I'm swaying the way of the gts 250, purely because I have a sli m/board and all the nvidia cards I've had have done their job.
while all the ati cards have been a bit problematic.
Either way, I think both are great cards(from what I've read) and will do me fine.
