NZrFL50: Round 4 - Daytona
We cross the country to Florida for round 4 of NZrFL50 and racing at the Daytona Road Course.
The road course is most famous for it's 24 hour event which has been run since 1966. Fun-fact, the lights that surround the track are limited to 20% of the maximum output to make the cars reliant on their headlights.
The track should be much easier to run on than Sonoma, but still has technical parts where you need to be precise with vehicle placement.
Current Points
Weight to start round 4
rFactor 2 has a weight limit of 255kg, but I will continue to calculate the weight beyond this limit.
Schedule (5th March):
8:00pm - Official Practice
8:30pm - Qualifying (15 Minute open session - do as many laps as you'd like)
9:00pm (Sharp) - Racing Commences
Special Notes for Daytona
Please vocalize when you are leaving the pits - the ideal racing lines goes over the blend line for pit exit. Cars exiting the pits must keep left of the blend line, however this does not mean you need to give way. If you are on the race track you cannot move to the left and force the vehicle coming out of pits onto the grass.
When coming into the pits, move yourself onto the apron of the track before braking.
Same rules for the curbs here (specifically in relation to the Bus Stop) as we ran at Monza. Cut as much as you'd like but I won't be clearing penalties.
Drafting will actually do something here, so just be mindful of braking for Turn 1 if you directly behind someone.

When I try to connect, rF2 crashes at my end? I'll try again.

I've just tested successfully.Erik wrote:When I try to connect, rF2 crashes at my end? I'll try again.
Maybe re-install the track?

Re: NZrFL50: Round 4 - Daytona
I was testing the cut track limits tonight
The bus stop can be taken flat (almost), I was cutting the grass on entry - leaving the track at the first set of cones - and exiting through the cones across the grass. I only got cut track warning if I went over the grass on the inside of the buss stop (makes sense), or if I just kept straight on exit.
So basically cut nearly 5 seconds off normal lap time
What will be the ruling for the races...?

I'll have a quick play tonight, but I'm pretty keen to keep to what we've had being cut all you like, but if you get pinged I won't clear the penalty.Danman wrote:I was testing the cut track limits tonight

I would also imagine that we're mature enough as the small group of racers we are to know when we're taking the piss.

Or like Greg Murphy says "Its hot and sweaty in the car so you don't really notice."

Also, if any of the new members wish to have a race then feel free, the more the merrier.

Well that was fun!
Some really nice side by side racing there, lots's of action. Great track too. Still can't believe Danman and I went side by side through the bus stop and both came out at the other end. Some really nice racing with Viking too. Great stuff and thankfully my crappy internet held together long enough as well.
(it disconnected later again and I ended up with 200 kb/s upload )
