Fall Enduro League - Round 3 - Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

Welcome to the final round of the KSR Fall Enduro League.

We come to Belgium and the notorious Spa Francorchamps

Spa is awesome, it's had a bunch of layouts throughout the years and we've run it multiple times here at KSR.

This track doesn't give much room for errors, especially though the faster sections, survival will be key.

Race Night Format - May 19th
7:00PM - Official Practice
8:00PM - Qualifying (15 Minutes) - Full open session, all cars visible, do as many laps as you want.
8:15PM - Warmup\Drivers Briefing
8:30PM - Race Start (120 Minute timed event)

Race Settings
Flag Rules - Black, Blue and Local Yellow (No Safety Cars)
Damage - 20%
Fuel usage - 2X
Tire Usage - 3X (might drop to 2x, see below)
Mechanical Failures - Normal
Time Simulation - Nil
Weather - Variable
Type of Start - Standing.
Pit Stops - No compulsory pit stops or tyre changes required.

Extra Note
We have added practice nights in between each round.

We are setting variable weather for this race (including all practice sessions beforehand, so if you jump on the server in a practice session you will experience the same variability)

There is no guarantee that rain will hit in the race, but stuff to consider.
  • Rain Tyres are soft, so will wear much quicker than the other compounds.
  • rFactor isn't fantastic at modelling slick tyres on a wet track.
  • The track does have characteristics of getting dryer\wetter, so you will need to be adaptive to what's happening

Just a note, the tyre wear has been dropped to x 2.

The wet track wears out both wet and dry tyres extremely fast, so this is to combat that.

For those who haven't run in the rain in rFactor2, the track is dynamic and a drying line will appear if it stops raining. You will need to be precise as the pace increases (if this scenario unfolds) as the wet track will still have diminished grip. Eau Rouge\Raidillon will becomes especially difficult.

Practice night tonight.

If you haven't run a sim in the rain before, now is your chance.

Tell me about it - ordered a package, never showed up. Turned out that the courier threw it into the bushes of our front garden rather than just putting the package at our doorstep. That literally would have been 3 additional steps and it would have been noticed and protected by our porch roofing.

Instead, the package was out in the rain for some days now. If it would have been anything computer related, I would have rejected the delivery and demand a new shipment.

That's not being overloaded, that's being a dumbass.

That was an awesome race! Very challenging with the ever changing wet and dry conditions, I got caught out after just leaving the pits with fresh softs to see it starting to rain again! Then attempting to double stint my wets long after it stopped raining may not have been the best tactical move in the race O_o .

Very enjoyable race, the rain (especially the surprise shower at the end) really added another element to the mix.

The drying line as the rain eased up was really cool, and attempting to determine when to change to slicks are difficult.

Well done Viking, super job to play the weather as well as you did.

Thanks to everyone that came along, even with the rain it sounded as though it was a clean performance all around.
